O filmu

Kaj se zgodi, ko se sodobna improvizirana glasba poveže z balkanskimi uličnimi glasbeniki? Kako to zveni? Tomaž Grom, slovenski kontrabasist, skladatelj, improvizator in raziskovalec zvočnega potenciala, je sedel v svoj kombi in po ulicah Maribora, Zagreba, Tuzle, Novega Sada, Prištine, Tirane in Skopja začel iskati svoje sodelavce.

Synopsis

What happens when modern improvised music meets Balkan street musicians? How does it sound? Tomaž Grom, a Slovenian contrabass player, composer, improviser and researcher of the potential of sound, got into his van and began searching for collaborators in the streets of Maribor, Zagreb, Tuzla, Novi Sad, Prishtina, Skopje and Tirana. Grom steps into the street musicians’ worlds of sound by using headphones. He plays them his material and encourages them to react to his musical pattern. To gain their trust for collaboration, he also visits them in their home environment, where we get to know their personal stories… This is a documentary road movie which is constantly hanging on the edge of misunderstandings and getting lost on roads that don’t exist on modern navigation devices. On this journey, Grom is an excellent moderator of these misunderstandings as the most creative moments of communication and patiently gets lost with his collaborators on this search for basic acoustics, which, despite all the difficulties, ends with the gathering of the Balkan street musicians on the stage of a modern music concert.
